Kevin Nathaniel Starts Funshops for Freedom Families
A native of Brooklyn, Kevin Nathaniel has an extensive and impressive resume, having graduated from Yale as a Scholar of the House of Fine Arts. After college he devoted himself to music – African music in particular. His workshops and lecture/demos have been presented at the Lincoln Center, Juilliard, University of Michigan, Wesleyan, and several other institutions. Recently teaching tens of thousands from all over the world to play mbira – an instrument originating out of Zimbabwe.
Suddenly A new calling came about for him, after hearing stories of parents being harassed by Child Protective Services for not vaccinating their children. Kevin knew these families – Freedom Families – were in need of community and real help. This is when he started the idea of Funshops – a form of musical homeschooling for both kids and adults.
“Parents are at the Funshops creating their own new community and planning play dates for their kids. I realized, once it began, that it is a very urgent project. We have to start creating the new reality of freedom now. We have to use our resources creatively and unite. This is about creating a beautiful path leading out of what is silently being done to destroy ALL children – both vaxxed and un-vaxxed.”
During a typical Funshop – Kevin will teach the children “musical rhythm games” which includes singing, clapping, dancing along with various musical explorations such as hambone and gumboot. The adults join in because they find games challenging and interesting. Both kids and adults smile and laugh – no masks here!
I realized that homeschooling was not only the path of the future, but that it could be the leading edge of the freedom movement, after it became obvious that children were one the main targets of the covid vaccine agenda
I asked Kevin what he envisions for the future:
“We are starting at a studio that is supportive of the freedom movement, but we are finding more and more venues that are on board. We are also finding more and more freedom artists and educators who have powerful programs to share. The concept is an underground railroad that actually speaks to what is possible when we put love, freedom, and awareness in the center of learning. We envision this expanding into every neighborhood – freedom venues everywhere throughout NYC, the boroughs, upstate, the tri-state area. We all could see for decades most of the schools in NYC were driving fast over a cliff. It’s been fairly easy to see that. It means one thing: build something better, and when it became obvious that most schools would not protect the bodily autonomy of the children, it was time to jettison from those vehicles.” He closed our interview with these words
the true warriors of the freedom movement are and will increasingly be parents whose love for their children will never be compromised, and for whom bodily autonomy is non-negotiable
Asé Kevin you are a bright light with a big heart
Thank you Kevin for all you do, you are a wonderful example of the future of freedom!
