Body count rises as the wide-open border results in death, catastrophic injuries, and devastated families.

As the fifth anniversary of her murder approaches, absolutely nothing has changed. In July 2018, 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts was murdered by an illegal alien while jogging near her Brooklyn, IA, home. The incident made national headlines, sparked vows of congressional action, then receded into memory.
In July 2022, 20-year-old Kayla Hamilton was raped and murdered by an illegal alien inside her mobile home in Aberdeen, MD. The 17-year-old suspect has been identified as a member of the ultra-violent MS-13 gang. The crime made national headlines for a while, sparked vows of congressional action, but is now receding into memory.
And the mayhem goes on. As the Title 42 expulsion policy expires and the already calamitous southern border sinks into pure chaos, innocent Americans continue to be victimized by heinous criminal acts committed by perpetrators who would not be in the country if the United States enforced its immigration laws.
Illegal Alien With a Machete at the Park
“The suspect accused of raping a 15-year-old girl and a woman days later on a Maryland hiking trail is in the U.S. illegally, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement,” WTTG-TV in Washington, DC, reported May 19. “Jose Roberto Hernandez-Espinal, 20, was arrested and charged with raping a woman and robbing her friend [May 16] at Burnt Mills East Special Park,” the station wrote, explaining that he threatened the pair with a machete. He “is a national of El Salvador [who] unlawfully entered the U.S. in May 2013,” WTTG related.
“A suspect in the United States illegally will remain behind bars in Autauga County after being charged with rape, court documents say,” WSFA-TV in Montgomery, AL, reported May 16. “According to court records, Grevi Geovani Rivera-Zavala, 29, of Honduras, is charged with rape first degree. A court deposition shows the incident happened [May 13] inside [the women’s bathroom at] a restaurant” in Prattville, the station detailed. The victim is a teenage girl.
Prattville Police Department investigator Kaitlyn Sweat told The Montgomery Advertiser that federal sources say Rivera-Zavala illegally crossed into the United States at the overwhelmed Eagle Pass, TX, sector in November 2021.
“Despite having a criminal record in Honduras, Zavala was apprehended, processed, and quickly released into the US interior by [President Joe] Biden’s [Department of Homeland Security] – ending up in Prattville, Alabama, to work in the local construction industry, illegally,” Breitbart’s John Binder observed.
Cristhian Bahena Rivera, the illegal alien who killed Mollie Tibbetts in 2018, was employed by a local dairy farm.
‘I Don’t Know How He Got Here’
Tammy Nobles is the grieving mother of Kayla Hamilton, the young woman whose life was snuffed out just as she entered adulthood. Hamilton was autistic and struggled to detect malevolence in anybody, according to Nobles, who cannot understand how an MS-13 gang member was so easily processed into the United States in March 2021 as an “unaccompanied minor.”
“Everyone should know how he got here – all the people involved that led up to her death, I think they all should be responsible,” Nobles told the Washington Examiner in February. “[Kayla] was just a happy little girl that wanted to live life, and it was taken. She wasn’t doing anything. She had two jobs. She was trying to figure out life being autistic.”
In an interview with Fox News, Nobles said, “I don’t know where he came from. I don’t know how he got here or how he ended up being in the same area as her.”
Federal immigration authorities should know. They allowed it to happen.
“After [the suspect, who is unnamed because he is under 18] was apprehended at the border in March [2022], he identified a woman in Frederick, Maryland, as his aunt, police said,” The Examiner’s Anna Giaritelli reported. “Unaccompanied minors are turned over from Border Patrol to [the Department of Health and Human Services] for approximately one month while they await placements nationwide. Although Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed the suspect’s gang affiliation to Aberdeen Police, ICE likely played no role in processing or holding him – only Border Patrol and HHS would have.”
This is the real-world fallout of the illegal alien scourge unleashed on the American people. The outrage it now and again attracts somehow never seems to result in concrete action. “Remember Kate Steinle,” we were instructed in 2015. Her killer had been deported five times. In 2019, the refrain was, “Say his name, Pierce Corcoran.” He was a 22-year-old killed by a reckless illegal alien, Franco Cambrany Francisco-Eduardo, behind the wheel. Today, states routinely give illegals driver’s licenses.
And all the while the bodies pile up, with the dead, the maimed, the forever-altered and their anguished families eventually being left to silence as the 24-hour news cycle moves on to the next thing.
